Magic Photography Pty Ltd is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children. We recognise that children have the right to feel safe and protected when participating in photography services within early learning centres, schools and community environments.

This policy outlines the systems and practices implemented by Magic Photography to comply with the Victorian Child Safe Standards (11 Standards).

1. Statement of Commitment to Child Safety

Magic Photography has zero tolerance for child abuse or harm. We are committed to creating environments where children feel safe and respected, and responding quickly and appropriately to concerns or complaints.

  • Preventing situations where abuse or misconduct could occur
  • Ensuring families understand our child safety approach

2. Scope of Policy

This policy applies to all Magic Photography employees, assistants, future contractors, trainees, and any person representing the company when working with children.

3. Child Safe Leadership

The Child Safety Officer is responsible for implementing this framework and ensuring staff compliance with the Child Safe Standards.

4. Working With Children Checks

All Magic Photography staff must hold a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC). Records are maintained by management, and no staff member may attend a centre without a valid check.

5. Staff Training & Induction

Staff receive comprehensive induction and periodic refresher training on appropriate behavior, photography-specific safety, and formal reporting procedures.

6. Code of Conduct

Professional Standards:

  • Ensure educators are present when photographing children
  • Stop immediately if a child becomes distressed
  • Respect children who do not want their photo taken

Prohibited Actions:

  • Using personal devices for photography
  • Being alone with a child or entering private/change areas
  • Private communication with children outside of sessions

7. Physical Contact

Photographers aim to minimise physical contact. Minimal contact (adjusting clothing, wiping a face, or positioning hands) is only performed when necessary. Educators remain responsible for primary supervision.

8. Photography Process & Security

Children are only photographed with verified consent. Images are stored on secure company hard drives and only company cameras are utilized. Images are retained only as long as necessary to fulfil orders.

10. Complaints & Reporting

Complaints from parents, educators, or staff should be reported to Kate Picker (Child Safety Officer). All reports undergo a recorded investigation and appropriate action. Serious safety concerns are reported to relevant authorities.

11. Continuous Review

Magic Photography reviews this policy every 12 months to ensure continued compliance with the Victorian Child Safe Standards and industry best practices.
