Child Safe Policy & framework

14 March 2026 · 8 min read

Magic Photography is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children. We recognise that children have the right to feel safe and protected when participating in photography services within early learning centres, schools and community environments.

This framework outlines the systems and practices we use to comply with the Victorian Child Safe Standards (11 Standards). The full policy is available in our Trust & Safety hub.

1. Statement of commitment

Magic Photography has zero tolerance for child abuse or harm. We are committed to environments where children feel safe and respected, and to responding quickly and appropriately to concerns or complaints.

2. Child-safe leadership

Our Child Safety Officer, Kate Picker, is responsible for implementing this framework and ensuring staff compliance with the Child Safe Standards.

3. Working With Children Checks

All Magic Photography staff must hold a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC). Records are maintained by management, and no staff member may attend a centre or school without a valid check.

4. Code of conduct

5. Photography process & security

Children are only photographed with verified consent. Images are captured on company cameras only, stored on secure company systems, and retained only as long as necessary to fulfil orders.

6. Complaints & reporting

Complaints from parents, educators or staff are reported to our Child Safety Officer, Kate Picker. All reports undergo a recorded investigation and appropriate action, and serious safety concerns are reported to the relevant authorities.

7. Continuous review

We review this policy every 12 months to ensure ongoing compliance with the Victorian Child Safe Standards and industry best practice. As a founding member of ELPA, we're also audited annually against the national ELPA Code of Conduct.
